Molly-Mae Hague has addressed the backlash surrounding her baby daughter’s name Bambi.
The former Love Island star and beau Tommy Fury, both 23, welcomed their first child last month, before going on to reveal they’d named their girl Bambi – which was met with a mixed response.
And now in a new video shared to her YouTube on Wednesday, Molly-Mae has responded to the reaction the name received, as she remarked: ‘I was brought back down to earth very quickly of how nasty this world can be.’
She also told how she was initially apprehensive about revealing the name, and was left stunned by the feedback before being forced to switch off Instagram comments.
Despite the negativity, the star gushed how much she loved the moniker, revealing it was ‘beautiful’ and ‘unique’ – with the influencer having loved the name for years.

She explained: ‘The name reveal was a hard day for me. I switched Instagram comments off on that post. I was brought back down to earth very quickly of how nasty this world can be.
‘Because we’d literally known that our first baby girl was going to be called Bambi, we had gotten so used to the idea that that was going to be her name and to us it wasn’t really that unusual anymore.
‘And I know it’s unusual and unique and not going to be to everyone’s taste, but when we announced it, in my mind it was just beautiful, it’s her, she’s Bambi and that’s a beautiful name, amazing, amazing…
‘And then just two seconds after posting it I was like, “oh my God!”‘

Earlier in the video in which she initially held Bambi, she addressed the name as she introduced the tot to the camera, cooing: ‘Will you say “hi everyone, I’m Bambi. Nice to meet you. I’m Bambi Fury, that’s my name. I know some people may not like it, but I love it!”‘
Molly-Mae had taken to Instagram at the end of last month to share a snap of her baby girl’s name in illuminated letters overlooking her little girl in her cot, having previously admitted that some fans would ‘hate’ it.
Molly-Mae shared an adorable image of her daughter nestled in her cot next to a Bambi toy, with her name illuminated in lights on the wall.
She captioned the post: ‘Bambi’ along with a heart emoji.
The name Bambi is of Italian origin and is thought to derive from the word ‘bambino’, which means ‘child’.

In a previous YouTube Q&A she said: ‘It’s not made up, it’s totally not made up, I can’t explain it. It’s just not a name that’s ever been used before. It’s very very different and rare and you’re either going to love it or hate it.
‘I’ve had the name picked out since I was a baby girl myself. It’s always been a dream baby girl name and luckily when I met Tommy and I told him the name I’ve always dreamt of using, he absolutely loved it too.
‘It’s a really really unusual and a different name, I do not know anybody else with the name. I’ve not seen any other girls with the name before, it’s that different.’

The TV presenter, 55, slammed people who criticised the influencer for their ‘envy’ and said she is entitled to spend her money as she pleases.
Molly-Mae, who welcomed her first child with partner Tommy Fury last month, left fans gob-smacked when she announced the name of her newborn with a photo of the luxurious crib.
Ulrika said: ‘She is getting trolled for calling the newborn Bambi – but I think, why not? It’s sweet enough.

‘Of course, much of the criticism is based on envy. Molly-Mae is entitled to do whatever she wants with her money.’
She continued in her column for The Sun: ‘Mere mortals can only dream of a nursery like little Bambi’s, who will be utterly oblivious to the overindulgence surrounding her.’
Ulrika went on to explain that it reminded her of when she welcomed her first child and felt that everything had to be perfect.
